How to estimate fabrication of steel piping?

 1. Fit up in shop for 1 group is 25 to 30 dia inch per day. (1 group = 1 pipe fitter, 1 tack welder, 2 helper)

2. For welder, 1 welder can weld 20 to 25 dia inch per day for standard pipe.

3. One welder can weld 2 joints of 10" pipe sch 40 per day.

4. One welder can weld 1 joint of 10" pipe sch 80 per day. 

5. Average electrode consumption of welder per day is around 5 to 7 kg electrode, depends on welder.

What is dia inch unit? Dia inch is equal to size of pipe multiplied by the quantity of joints.

Example 1 : There are 8 joints of 12" pipe. The total dia inch is 8 x 12 = 96 dia inch

Example 2 : There are 10 joints of 12" pipe. The total dia inch is 10 x 12 = 120 dia inch


How to estimate rebar for concrete?

 Option 1 : For rough estimate by using thumb rule you can use 90kg per cubic meter. Example the quantity of concrete is 10 cubic meter, the required rebar is 90 kg.

Option 2 : If you need accurate quantity, you need to count as per the detailed construction drawing. ☺
